Specific Benefits
This Programme is designed to ensure:
- you understand how you will make money from your enterprise;
- you get detailed training and input on financial issues and decisions; and
- you receive detailed information about the practical aspects of business.
- you have basic understanding of networking ? its importance and value to business, how they can develop their business networks;
- you establish and develop appropriate and practical links into regional and national networks so that you are able to access business support;
- you and your mentor establish a comfortable working relationship and that you receive on-to-one mentoring support during the Programme;
- you get detailed training and input on financial issues and decisions.

Entry Requirements

DAY 1 - Induction Workshops
Each 1 hour workshop will give you answers to your how to questions and direct you to further information Show and Tell Before dinner you have the opportunity to display your product or services to everyone. There will be invited guests at the dinner, so if you are already trading, you can offer your wares to potential customers. If you have not already started trading, it will be a great opportunity to do some market research. All dinner guests will sign confidentiality agreements in advance of the meal. Gather feedback about your business and find people who can help you take it forward. You can develop useful networking relationships with fellow FlyingStart Programme participants. Dinner - Day 1 dinner is an informal business networking event for which the dress code is smart business wear. One-to-One Mentor sessions - Some of you may have on-to-one mentor sessions on Day 1.
DAY 2 One-to-One Mentoring sessions
During your 45 minute informal one-to-one session, your mentor will talk you through your enterprise concept and help you to compile an action plan, so you leave the Programme with all the information you need to get started in building your business. You will need to prepare for your one-to-one mentor session by bringing along the following information: Businesswork - information most important!! A list of key challenges that you have identified by completing your Businesswork and any other preparation or planning work that you have done. Other important information, such as pictures and work samples, to explain your enterprise to others. Knowledge Workshops Day 2 is all about gathering knowledge. These workshops cover the essential functional business information you will need to get your business going and growing. The workshops encompass a variety of topics, from legal issues to finance and funding. Refer to the schedule you were given at registration for a full listing. Networking Dinner - This informal networking event is your opportunity to meet some new people. It will also present another chance to display your working designs and products to potential customers. If you have not already started trading, it will be a great opportunity to do some market research. Dress is casual. Bring flyers, pictures and other information about your enterprise, and business cards for distribution to new people and guests. Again, all our dinner guests will sign confidentiality agreements in advance of the meal.
DAY 3 Pitching your Business
In the morning on Day 3 you will have the opportunity to practice pitching your business concept to your colleagues and to a judging panel. The sessions will be run in small groups with your mentor.
